Grafton Pen (or pencil)
A pen and/or pencil is a good EDC item, and upgrading to something that looks and feels nice is worth it if it is made to last and will encourage more writing (or drawing, etc.). This design is adaptable to accept most of the popular types of refills, including Fisher's space pen cartridges which work under tough circumstances such as when wet. I personally really enjoy the look and feel. My only slight quibble with the design is that the metal adapter for shorter ink refills can rattle a little, and I'd prefer my EDC gear to be silent, but it's not terribly loud and the near universal compatibility is worth it in my opinion. I've tried both the pen and pencil and love them both. The pencil is also "universal" in that it has a swappable internal barrel to support either 0.5mm or 0.7mm lead.

Sony MDR7506 Headphones
These studio monitor headphones are well built, have clear and balanced sound, and can be serviced part-by-part as needed. They're not high-end audiophile gear but considering the price they make a great go-to headphone for just about any purpose. The ear pads are fairly comfortable but they can deteriorate over time. I recommend upgrading those to some higher grade after-market memory foam ones anyway.

Gerber Dime Multi-Tool
This multi tool is tiny but contains a bunch of essential EDC tools, and it's well-made. For me, the scissors and tweezers get a lot of use day to day, and the pliers are one of those things that are perfect when you need them, although you might not typicall want to carry around a bulkier and heavier multi-tool. This one fits in a coin pocket easily enough to forget it's there, so I plan on buying a few more of these to have spares when I inevitably lose one.

Hikari Minute Miso
This stuff is delicious, healthy, and easy to prepare by itself or use in cooking.

Cougar Outdoor Waterman Backpack
This bag is cheap for the rugged materials and overall design and feature quality. The bungee lacing on the back is ideal for strapping in arbitrary additional cargo, and the simplicity of a big waterproof sack with comfortable straps is kind of a great tradeoff if you're willing to structure and organize your gear yourself.

Field Notes
These are some nicely designed premium paper pocket notebooks for jotting and doodling. There are some competing products I intend to try out and compare, but for now I'm pretty pleased with these for my everyday uses.

Cree Connected Bulbs
I've got a few of these Cree Connected smart lightbulbs which work with the Samsung SmartThings Hub. They were slightly tricky to get connected but once set up they've worked really great. I think they're a good value compared with a non-smart LED bulb if you already have a compatible hub.

Cocoon Grid-it
I really like my two Cocoon Grid-it organizers for all the miscellaneous gear in my laptop bag.
